Interior carpet
Marine carpet, cut to measure
Carpet cut to the real shape of your cabin and saloon, with its corners, its hatches and its walkways. It insulates against noise and hull cold, and protects the original sole from knocks and grit.

What it is for
It insulates, it quietens, and it protects what is underneath
Interior carpet does three things at once. It insulates against hull cold, which on a boat comes straight up from the water through the sole. It damps noise, both engine and footfall, which bounces hard in a closed space made of hard surfaces. And it protects the original sole from knocks, grit and scuffing, which is the expensive part to put right if it gets damaged.
The critical part is the cut-outs. A cabin has stowage hatches, bilge access, the mast step and narrow walkways. If those openings are not cut precisely and bound, the carpet frays along the edges within the first season.
We fit it so it can be lifted out to clean or dry. On a boat that is not a luxury: water gets in sooner or later, and a carpet that cannot be lifted is a carpet that ends up in a skip.
This is interior carpet. Cabin, saloon and companionways. For decks and areas under permanent water, carpet is not the answer, and we will say so before quoting.
How it is made
From pattern to binding
Patterning the sole
The real shape of the floor is taken with all of its breaks. No cabin is a rectangle and the angles are rarely square.
Hatch cut-outs
Every stowage lid and access hatch is cut and bound separately, so it still opens without lifting the whole carpet.
Bound edging
The full perimeter is bound. That is what stops the edge fraying under foot traffic and the vacuum.
Removable fitting
Fitted so you can lift it to dry or deep clean it, and put it back where it belongs.
FAQ
Questions about marine carpet
Can the carpet be taken out for cleaning?
Yes, and that is how we fit it by default. Water gets into a boat sooner or later, and carpet that cannot be lifted to dry ends up smelling. Ours comes out and goes back.
Is it suitable for the deck or only inside?
It is interior carpet: cabin, saloon and companionways. For decks and areas under permanent water carpet is the wrong solution, and we would rather say so than sell you something that lasts a season.
How do you measure the sole?
Normally we pattern on the real floor. If you send us the old carpet we use it directly as the pattern. If it no longer exists we need a dimensioned drawing with the breaks in the outline and the position of the hatches.
What about the stowage lids?
They are cut and bound one by one, so each lid still opens with its own piece of carpet on top and without disturbing the rest.
